The Law Enforcement Congressional Badge ofBravery Act, introduced in 2008, honors federal, state, local and tribal lawenforcement officers for exceptional acts of bravery in the line of duty. Thenomination period for the 2013 awards runs from Dec. 14, 2012, through Feb. 15,2013; potential recipients must have performed an exceptional act of braverybetween Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012. Agency heads may nominate officers whosustained a physical injury during implementation of duties, or performed anact characterized as bravery that put the individual at personal risk of injuryor death.
