News  Most police who are killed by criminals are killed incidental to the contact.  The criminal kills the cop because they think the officer is about to arrest them, or will prevent them from escaping.  In most cases in the United States, the criminals just want to escape from the police. That is not the case in all parts of the world.  There are many places where the criminals lay in wait for the police to come along so they can be ambushed.  Even worse, the criminals corrupt the police and the police themselves lay in wait to ambush other police. The drug war in Mexico has become such a place.  Corrupt police ambush other police out of fear of the gangs or for money.  The United States needs to redouble our efforts to fight the drug war.  We need to stop the entertainment industry from glamorizing drugs.  We need to have harsher penalties for mere possession of drugs.  We need to stop making excuses for people with drug convictions.  We need to stop it now before we become the next Mexico; that's what the SGT Says.
