Take a look at the image from SFGate - it appears that something is wrong with the image not the dog.  [Snout-less 'hero dog' Kabang arrives at UC Davis]. The dog "reportedly threw herself into the path of a speeding motorcycle just as it was about to hit two young girls crossing a roadway . . . ."It is a great story for dog lovers like myself. The "fundraising campaign [...] raised more than $20,000 in donations from 20 different countries, enough to pay for surgery, airfare, visas, passports and a hotel stay for the dog and her handlers." But there must have been some 'freebies' included. $20k wouldn't seem to be enough.
But I have to admit I wondered why the same compassion wouldn't be applied to the many humans who live on the street - not by choice but at their last effort to survive?
