Retired FBI Agent Charles Tignor Marks 100 Years

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge JamesYacone recently presented retired Special Agent Charles L. Tignor (bornSeptember 13, 2012) with a letter from FBI Director Robert Mueller incelebration of Tignor’s 100th birthday. Mueller praised Tignor’s service anddedication to the Bureau during his 27-year career.
On March 13, 1942, with only two yearson the job, Special Agent Tignor sustained multiple gunshot wounds and hispartner was killed while they were pursuing two armed fugitives in Abingdon,Virginia. “Such a violent and traumatic event would have led some individualsto end their law enforcement careers,” Mueller wrote. “However, demonstratinggreat strength of character and commitment to public service, you returned towork and served our nation for another quarter century.”
