Wilkinson Charged in One-Count Superseding Bill of Information



NEW ORLEANS—Thomas G. Wilkinson, age 54,a resident of Jefferson Parish, was charged today in a one-count supersedingbill of information with conspiracy in violation of Title 18, United StatesCode, Section 371, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
If convicted, Wilkinson faces a maximumpenalty of not more than five years in prison, followed by three years ofsupervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Letten reiterated that abill of information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant mustbe proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
Because this charge was filed inconnection with an ongoing, pending criminal prosecution in United StatesDistrict Court, United States Attorney Jim Letten has stated that no additionalfacts or details or comments are available at this time.
The case is being investigated by agentsfrom the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who was assisted by the MetropolitanCrime Commission.
The case is being prosecuted byAssistant U.S. Attorneys Brian Klebba, Matt Chester, and Daniel Friel.
